GOLF CLUB POSITION MAINTAINED.

Report To To-night’s Annual Meeting of Members.

Pleasure at the fact that the Stratford Golf Club had maintained its position during the year is expressed in the report of the committee to be presented to the annual meeting of members to-night. The revenue Was £495/12/6, which shows d a decrease of £2O/5/9. Owing to the club running its own stock it received no revenue from grazing rights which the previous year amounted to £4B/15/-; the profit from the dance was £l4/1/6 less. Subscriptions showed an increase ot £35/11/6 and donations. £l/10/-. The farming operations had turned out successful and the stock account showed a surplus of £lBB/7/8. There were still 102 sheep and 3J bales of Wool to be told but they had been taken into account at figures that should be realised. After providing for manuring the property there would be a substantial sum on hand towards the purchase of new stock. . The club starts the new season with a membership ot 138 (70 ladies and 68 men).

The annual ball was held on July 30 and was a financial success the profit amounting to £32-2/6. Seven teams played in inter-club matchae—winning four and losing three.

The |ladles’ teams played eight matches and Won three, lost three, wflth two halved.

Owing to the generosity of the ladles, certain men members, and supporters who made donations of £l4/5/-, the club was’ able to obtain suitable cups for ladies’ and men’s championships. Thanks were due to Mr Austin Yarndley who donated a cup for annual competition, also to Mir E. R. Wells for a set of silver ferns—the competition for which had been quite keen. Trophies Were given by Messrs Rutherford and Pobrlca during the season. The following were the results ot the club championships: Men’s championship, Mr K. N. Neal (winner), Mr D. S. Morris (runnerup) ; intermediate championship, Mr V. Young, Mr M. T. Sullivan; junior championship, Mr K. S. Ewing> Mr W. B. Farquharson. Ladles’ championship, Miss V. Sangwter, Mrs l K. Pegg; intermediate championship, Miss J. Henry, Mrs F. Nolan; junior championship, Mrs A. E. Whittle, Miss L. Penn.
