B.B C. Stars an Ex-Criminal
Strong protests have followed the broadcasting in England of recollections of a self-confessed criminal. He described former “exploits” and) terms of penal servitude. Many listeners telephoned the DailySketch to express indignation at the talk, “The World Goes By.” Ail emphasised that such a broadcast, not only in itself objectionable, might also be harmful to children. Names of those taking part were not announced; The Ex-Criminal called hinttelf an author. Among exploits described was one in which a policeman helped him over a wail while he was in evening dress preparing to commit a robbery. One listener telephoned to suggest the talk’s correct title should*. have been “The Cr.ilcrworiJ Goej By.”
