She was found in a locked room by her husband, Thomas Archibald Hay, who was chief witness at the Liverpool inquest. She was in a sitting position, and therd were" two empty disinfectant bottles at her side. "I am sorry,” remarked the coroner, Mr G. C. Morl, to Mr Hay. "to probe Into your private affa-rs, but I must ask if from time to time your Wife said she wished she was single?” “Yes," replied Mr Hay. Coroner: In consequence of this did you give het- grounds to take divorce proceedings ?-—Yes.

Evidence was given by Mrs Phyllis Martha Dawson, of Liverpool, that Mr and Mrs Hay had occupied a flat at her house tor 12 months. Since July she had noticed there were differences between them. **n her return from holidays she saw Mrs Hay, who showed her a paper Whloh she said her husband had left for her.

On this he had written : I want you to divorce me. I have been unfaithful to vou.

Mrs Hay asked her what she ought to do, and she advised her to go to a -solicitor. Mrs Hay then said, "I don't want a divorce. 1 want a separation. I love him so much 1 don't want to lose him at all."

A verdict of “Suicide, with insufficient evidence to show the stale j? mind," was recorded.
