BATTING FAILS.
Easy Win for Stratford at Victoria Park. Ha wera batting failed badly in I lie senior B cricket match at Victoria Park on Saturday, v.’hicli the home side won by 140 to 53. The chief contributions to the Stratford innings were those of Faulkner, one of the opening pair, who made 37, Pollard, who made 27 and Stallard, who made 19. For Hawera Hodder and I. Ross did the
bowling, the former taking five wickets for 41 runs and the latter three for 24. The Stratford bowler Stallard, had his day, when, after breaking the opening partnership by taking Fergueson, who had only two runs to his credit, he took the next four wickets at a total cost of 22 runs. The other open* ing battman G. Ross, had made the top score of 10 when he was run out. The last five batsmen were dis* missed without any addition to the score. Faulkner, vtfao bowled only two overs, captured the latt three wickets, achieving the exceptional 1 figures of three wickets for no runs.
