NO SIGN YET.

Mail ’Plane Still Missing Near Sydney.

Press Association —Copyright. Sydney, February 21.

There is still no sign of the missing Stinson air-liner, which left Archer Field, Brisbane, for Sydney early on Friday afternoon with seven persons on board and fears are felt that it has crashed in the sea. Thirteen planes' are engaged in the search. Reports received that the air liner v.'as seen-passing over various points south of Taree lead to the belief that the machine vanished within half an hour of Sydney. One report stated that the machine was seen over Gosford between 4.30 and 5 o’clock on Friday afternoon.

The area in which the plane apparently disappeared is- closely settled and it is considered to be almost unbelievable that a crash on land would not have been reported within a day. A Sydney message to-day states that hopes that the personnel of the missing Stinson mail ’plane will be found alive have been practically abandoned. A search by air and land throughout the week-end failed to reveal any trace. Miss Jean Batten joined the searchers yesterday, making two extensive flights.
