ANTARCTIC WHALING

INDUSTRY DOOMED.

AUSTRALIAN VIEW.

Because of Unrestricted

Killing.

Press Association—Copyright. Received 11.45 a.m. Melbourne, To-day.

Captain J. K. Davis, Comrtionwealth Director of Aviation, who has been a member of many Antarctic expeditions, predicts the almost complete extinction of whales in the Antarctic within a few years because of the unrestricted killing by Japanese fleets. “To preserve the world whaling grounds, 28 British and Norwegian whaling companies have formed an agreement to protect the industry through regulation of catches and seasons/’ said Captain Davis. “The Japanese and German companies disregard this agreement. The whaling industry is already doomed, so it is too late for Australia to consider entering the industry.”
