AUTUMN SHOW

Stratford A. & P. Party’s Visit to Waverley.

The publicity campaign in connection with the first autumn show to be held by the Stratford Agricultural and Pastoral Association next month

is no lest' important for its success than is similar work for the spring show. Following the publication and distribution of the schedule, the secretary (Mr W. F. Ross.) and members of the executive are concerned mainly with interviewing prospective exhibitors and securing entries for the various classes, the closing date for which is Thursday, March 4. Opportunity was taken by Mr Ross to motor to the Waverley show on Saturday, when he was accompanied

by Messrs J. Parrish, E. Wells and M. G. Trotter.

The weather was fine and the attendance of the 'public was good, though the change in the date ot the show, it was claimed, was the cause ot the decrease in the gate takings. There were several sideshows on the ground, and they were well patronised.

The strong feature ot the Waverley show is the horse section, and competition, was fairly keen in the jumping, trotting and pony events. There was a good display in the sheep section. The Stratford visitors spent an interesting time, solicitlffg

entries and extending invitations tn visit Stratford on March 12 and 13.

Their presence at the gathering was announced over the local broadcast, the arrangements for which during the day were well carried out. Mr Ross reports that the members of the party were well received, and that the prospects ot the southern districts being well represented at the show were encouraging.
