“PAGLIACCI.”
TAUBER’S NEW FILM. FAMOUS TENOR SCORES. In adapting Leoncavallo's opera, “ Pag” cci," Trafalgar began wilti the advamage of having two of the most famous tenor solos in the whole music, the “ Prologue ” and “ On Willi the Motley," says a Loudon paper. 'l'liis effort goes a long way towards what, some of us think would be, the ideal marriage of opera and Him. It is, ii deed, the first real attempt to recon truct opera on the screen and udu» a new pleasure to the cinema. Richard Tauber's voice is ideally suited to the part of, Canto. Hie “ Prologue ’’ lias never been better sung, and his "On Willi the Motley" is a really artistic achievement, life famous “sob” which with Caruso seemed to shake the stage was suggested as Hie involuntary lieart-cry oi a strong man broken by an unexpected sorrow. Tauber’s singing in the rest of the play did not always reach Ills unusually iiigh level, but it was always exlrcmel; good. An interpolated lullaby was beautifully done.
