Travelling as Mr. Smith, Herr von RibbEntrop, German Ambassador in England, was the guest of the Earl of Derby with the Humber-Lanca-business men at Manchester. Herr Ribbentrop emphasised that his visit ■was private, but Lord Derby and the Mayor of Manchester led an informal discussion after dinner on trade between Germany and the North of England, as a result of which discussion, special sub-committees’ of the cotton and v.'ool trades are meeting to consider some improvement.
