Lamplough, Stratford, has been appointed relieving teacher at the Toko School. * * * Mrs Smyrk and her daughter Lois Oilverstream) are the guests of Mrs T. AHsup, Monmouth Road. * * * Miss M. Kemsley is spending a holiday at Cambridge as the guest ot Mrs E. Petersen. * * * Mrs Scott, who has been an inmate ot the Public Hospital, has returned home. * * * Mrs Humphrey, Opunake, has returned home after spending a holiday with Mrs McNeil. * * * Mrs. A. Moon, Miranda Street, has returned from Auckland, where she competed in the croquet tournament events. * * * Mrs. Fredric, Brecon Road, left for a motor tour to Rotorua. She was accompanied by her aunts, the Misses Brownley, of Christchurch. * * * Miss Glady Harling, Tahunanui. Nelson, Who with her mother has been visiting Stratford, returned to the South yesterday. Mrs. J. Harling remains the guest of her daughter, Mrs W. E. Kelly, Orlando Street, for a few weeks. * * * Mrs E. H. Young, Brecon Road, entertained a few people to afternoon tea recently to meet her mother, Mrs Hussey (Australia). Those present were Mesdames "W. H. H. Young, G. Hall, E. S. Rutherfurd, Tyrer (senr.), H. Good, and Miss Cook (Christchurch). * * * Miss' Taylor entertained some friends at the Vicarage on Tuesday afternoon and evening. Those present were Mesdames H. Good, Cutfield, A. W. Budge, J. B. Richards, Shannon, Marchant, Uniacke, R. Tyrer, G. Hall, N. Thorpe, McLean, Thompson, E. S. i Rutherfurd, Newell, the Misses E. and D. Wilson, Wood, and Cutfield. A Tery amusing “adverb" game was played.
