TWO BODIES FOUND.
Victims’ Of Colliery Disaster In Victoria. Press Association—Copyright. Melbourne, February 16. After making efforts throughout the night in choking dust and carbon monoxide fumes rescue thirties at the Wonthaggi coalmine were unable to find more than two bodice of the 13 men entombed by the explosion. One of the bodies was so terribly mutilated that it was identifiable only by a twisted gold watch found in a pockeu The victim v.‘as identified as Harry Harper, aged 45. The other body was u n recognisable. Some of the ret cue party worked below for 15 hours on end. “It is the next thing to hell I can imaging,” said one begrimed miner th’iS morning. It is now believed that most of the remaining victims were trapped further along the mile-long east drive, into which the rescuers have penetrated only 500 yards.*. It may take days to reach the bodies.
