DAIRY EXPORTS.

Increase In Amount Of Butter And Cheese.

fcxports of butter and cheese from New Zealand this season show consliderablel increases compared with those for the corresponding period of last season.

According to returns supplied by the Primary Products Marketing Department to; the Dairy Board, shipments 1 of butter last month were 17,080 tons, compared with 12,968 tons for January, 1936, an increase of 4117 tons. During the six months ended January’3l, exports of butter totalled 79,216 tons, compared with 73,524 tons for the corresponding period of last season; an increase of 5692 tons.

Shipments of cheese last mouth were 8786 tons, compared with 6954 tons for January, 1936, an increase of 1832 tons. Exports of cheese for the six months ended January 31 totalled 41,776 tons, compared with 39,423 tons for the corresponding period of last reason, an increase of 2353 tons. There has been a large derease in the exports of Australian butter to the United Kingdom this season. Shipments last month were 8100 tons; compared with 9186 tons for January, 1936, a decrease of 1086 tons, For the six months ended January 31, exports totalled 37,150 tons, compared with 51,608 tons for the corresponding Period of last season, a decrease of 14,458' tons. Exports of Australian cheese to the United Kingdom for the six months were 3411 tons, a, decrease of '223 tons.
