Borax in lather and rinsing water keeps crepe de chine glossy. Rinse Japanese silk in milk and water. Silks that require stiffening should have a little methylated spirit in the rinsing water. To keep organdie and pique fresh and white, put a little peroxide of hydrogen in the last rinsing water.
