The diplomatic correspondent of the Daily Telegraph says that General Franco’s notes have been printed in Leipzig and are not backed with gold, which the Spanish Government has long since seized. They are appearing in large numbers in Spain. The cost of the notes, also payment for the German supplies to Franco, have been financed through an organisation known as the Rewag. Consequently the German Government is able to disclaim responsibility.
