Sarga subsequently refusing to acknowledge Vazaony’e salutation, declaring that he replied to greetings only from gentlemen. The result was a 14-rounds duel with sterilised Italian sabres at a fencing school and lasting 90 minutes. The contestants were stripped to the waists and wore’ neck bandages.
