Recent Strike Will Lead To Pay Increases. Press Association —Copyright, Detroit, February 13. There are growing indications that the settlement of the General Motors strike will result in pay rises, not only throughout the motor industry, but also in related industries, Packard Motors have announced a rise of 3Jd an hour and three Akron rubber companies gave increases ranging from 5 to 8 per cent. Mr Lewis has declared that genuine collective bargaining has come in the automobile industry. “it will start in the steel industry next," he said. “I hope that the United States Steel Corporation will approach the problem of union recognition in a national way.”
