TARANAKI CRICKET PLAY
RAIN PREVENTS GAMES IN SOUTH.
STRATFORD B TEAM UPSET PATEA.
SURPRISE FINISHES IN NEW PLYMOUTH SENIOR MATCHES.*
Weather conditions caused the postponement of all South Taranaki cricket on Saturday, with the exception of the match between Stratford B and Patea, which was played at Patea and resulted in a comfortable win for the visitors by 39 runs in a completed match. Patea, being previously the only unbeaten team in the senior B competition, and Stratford at the bottom of section 2, this result was somewhat unexpected.
New Plymouth’s surprising recovery against Western Park to secure a win which places its position as northern division senior champion beyond doubt, was a feature of northern play. The collapse of the division runner-up, New Plymouth High School, against whom Old Boys secured an outright decision, was equally unexpected.
