PILOT AT SEVENTY

Told During War He Was Too Old To Fly. London, January 22. Mr J. A. Mc/Mullin, white-haired 73-year-old retired consulting engineer, -Vi’as told that he was too old to fly years ago when he was a lieutenant in the R.F.C. during the war. At Hanworth aerodrome he celebrated his return from the Canary Isles by making a Eolo flight in an aeroplane he had never seen before. “I took my pilot’s license about four years ago.” he said. “Since then’ t have flown for about 170 hours, but I have never had any instruction or been in this type of machine before. During the war I was told that I was too old to learn to fly. I first took up flying my wife died five years ago.”
