GERMANY’S CLAIM TO COLONIES
FOR REAL PEACE. GIVE CO-OPERATION. Views Of English Liberal Leader. Press Association—Copyright. London, Feb. 12. “Germany’s claims to colonies and mandates, should be considered,” declared Sir Archibald Sinclair, Liberal leader, at Pontypridd. “The attainment of real and lasting peace,” he proceeded, “depends mainly on our power to convince Herr Hitler that we are loyal to the League of Nations and firmly resolved to join other peace-lovers in the resistance of aggression,, and to convince Herr Hitler that we wish to cooperate with Germany on a basis of equality and fully consider her colonial and other grievances, subject to indispensable conditions, “The conditions are that there will be a general peace settlement involving Germany agreeing to join a measure of international disarmament and Lubmit . all international disputes to arbitration, grant all nations, including Russia, the quality of rights and status ihe herself demands and give the natives of any restored colony the same guarantees against exploitation, conscription and militarism as in the mandates, and guaranteeing ‘open door’ trade. Germany is entitled to claim similar guarantees from others.”
