“Scalpel and Sword,” .by Sir James Elliott (A. H. and A. W. Reed).~The author recounts experiences as a
medical student at Edinburgh University, and as a medical officer in the South African and Great Wars. A section of the book deals with Maori folklore and religion and New Zealand scenery.
“They Knew Mr. Knight,” by Dorothy Whipple (Murray).—As a stone thrown into a pond breaks up the placid surface, so did the incursion of Lawrence Knight, agitate the lives of the Blakes.
“Space of Heaven,’’ by Pamela Barrington (John Long).—-A love-story of to-day, set in the background of the South of France.
“Love Game,” by Denise Robins (Ivor Nicholson and Watson).—Kay Lawrence had only one ambition In life—to become England’s lawn tennis women’s champion—until she was faced with the necessity of working for her living. ‘The One-Eyed Knave,” by Ganpat (Hodder and Stoughton).—Ashton endeavours to ensure peace for the State of Huzro, but others seek war and chaos.
‘House of Secrets,” by Wyndham Martyn (Jenkins).—When Anthony Trent happened upon the old Cornish village of Porth Idless he was certain that something strange was afoot and he determined to investigate. “Murder on the Ranch,” by Flyod C. Ryan (Ivor Nicholson and Watson) .—Donald Kennedy leaves New York lor a, ranch in New Mexico, where a murder mystery needs solving. Also added: “The Five Suspects,” by R. A. J. Walling (Hodder and Stoughton); “Three Make Their Bed.” by Barbara Stanton (Hurst and Blackett).
