BROADCAST ITEM. MAN INTERJECTS. Apology For Lapse From Taste. Press Association—©opyrrglit. London, Feb. 9. While the . British Broadcasting Corporation's male voice chorus was I singing a song in a radio item entitled, “Masculine Fame on Parade,” listeners Were surprised to hear a man’s voice interjecting with the words, “Mrs. Simpson.” At the conclusion of the item the announcer said, “We apologise to all listeners for the unfortunate lapse from taste earlier in the programme.” Press, inquiries later met with a refusal to amplify the statement. The item consisted of representations of famous characters--Nero-Alfred the Great, William the Conqueror, King John and others—who chorused the couplet, “We’ve come along this evening, , and one and al! we feel, “We wish that you could see us, for we’ve all got sex appeal.” Then the words, “Mrs. Simpson,” which were not in the script, were heard by millions of listener's. The Broadcasting Corporation and newspapers were inundated with telephone calls asking for an explanation.
