TURF TOPICS.

Round the Racing Realm. With “Top-weight.” FULOJOY’S PROGRAMME. Fulojoy, recently sold to Mr J. T. Evans, of Feilding, for lOOgns, was purchased mainly for use at the stud, but she is apparently to be raced further, as. she has been nominated by her new owner for Woodville. TO RACE AT EGMONT. Clessamor did not accept for the Flying Handicap at New Plymouth, as the stable had The Tiger and Refresher engaged. R. Barlow is reported to bi very pleased with the way Clessamor has done since Stratford, and the Lackhani —Clesantn gelding is to be produced at the Egmont meeting next week. GREY HONOUR RESUMES. D. E. Cotton has Grey Honour back in work again at Riccarton. This hack raced consistently, but unluckily, last season, and it i: to be hoped that luck will favour him when he is ready for racing again. On the eve of the New Zealand Cup meeting Grey Honour went amiss and had to be turned out, but he looks in excellent order now and will not require a great deal of work to bring him back to his best.

A PROMISING FILLY. ! After being off the scene since latt i spring Bronzette is in regular work again at Te Rapa and is due to reappear at the Rotorua meeting. This Tilly displayed a fair amount of promise in the few races that the contested and is expected to develop into a useful performer. Bronzette has also been entered for minor hack events at the Waikato meeting, which opens next week. ! —~ COURSE SHOULD SUIT HER. | Armacourt did not have the bett of i luck when she was beaten into third place in the Devonport Handicap at Ellerslie last week, otherwise she would have been closer at the finish. This mare ha& made marked improvement since last season and i looks certain to earn more money I before the present term is over. Armacourt it engaged in a couple, of mile events at Te Rapa and should be seen at her best on the roomy country course. WILL HAVE TO IMPROVE. Since winning the Ladies’ Bracelet ,at the Rotorua Hunt meeting last Lilbert has been beaten in each of his engagements., and his form has been rather disappointing. The black gelding will have a further opportunity to redeem himself at the approaching Rotorua meeting, where he figures in the Pohutu Highweight. Summed up on his past efforts, LiP bert is only a moderate, and he will need to improve in order to pay hit way * ’ __L OPPORTUNITY LOOKS GOOD. Since competing at the Takapuna meeting Jack Tar has not been asked to do any fast work, though he looks in nice order. So far this gelding has not won a race, but he has been in the money and is a likely improver. At the Rotorua meeting Jack Tar claims an engagement in the Waimangu Stakes, a weight-for-age event, run over five furlongs. As the class in that race is not over strong Jack Tar will have an excellent chance to open his winning account. DID NOT REPEAT FORM, After his good showing on the first I day of the Takapuna meeting Hunts- i man’s Chorus was solidly supported in the Moana Handicap on the second day, but he never looked dangerous' at any part of the contest. He has trained on the right way in the meantime and is due to make his next appearance in minor events at Te Rapa. The Hunting Song gelding is a good type of hack, though he will require to show 7 some improvement in order to held his own against the class he will be meeting at the

ENTERED AT WAIKATO. I . ’ In her only start at the Takapuna I meeting, Kilonsa registered an im- * pressiye win in the Wynyard Plate, i It was her third success this season. I and she has been improving all the ! time. In each of her races the t daughter of Kilbroney has been runI ning on in a manner which suggests i that she would be capable of negdtij ating longer journeys when given i the opportunity. Her connections J evidently are of that op nion 1 have entered her for the Storey ; Memorial Handicap, one mile and a- | quarter, at the Waikato meeting. i i DOING GOOD WORK I Now that the tracks are beginning ' t to become firmer Master Briefly ha: ; been displaying improvement in his : work, and his effort over six furlongs ! a couple of mornings ago at Ellerslie ! was a first-class one. This horse did i not have the ground to suit him in j some of his races earlier in the sea- : son, and it is not yet too late fp; i him to make a return to the winning I list. The chestnut gelding claims an ; engagement in the Storey Memorial ; Handicap, the chief event at the • Waikato meeting, and if the condiI tions are favourable he should acquit ! Ipmself creditably.
