Power Board’s Contracts With Government. Press Association —Copyright. Christchurch, Last Night. Power boards or other public bodies whose contracts with the Government expire in the near future will be given only temporary renewale, according to a statement made by the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. R. Semple, this evening. "This year I am going to make a full study of the problem of electric power supply,” said the Minister. "Until now I have not had time to give it the consideration it merits. I want thif year to go into the whole matter scientifically and will consider the supply of electric power for both city and country districts. “I am not satisfied with the present system. There are leakages and weak links in many places. It is a highly technical subject and great care must be taken in any step made. I want to go to Australia and see the big systems in operation there, and until careful consideration has been given and a policy definitely decided upon only temporary arrangements can be made with local bodies for the supply of power.”
