Brilliant Innings For Stratford High School

Brilliant batting by I. Ryburn, in partnership with a primary school boy, Foley, saved the day for Stratford Technical High School, in the match againtt Opunake. played at the school ground on Saturday. Opunake, who took first knock, were dismissed for the modest total of 59, Anderson taking five wickets for 17 runs and B. Ryburn, three for 13. i Unaccustomed to the turf wicket, the High School batsmen could do little with the Opunake bowling attack. Anderson, the opening batsman was dismissed without scorfilg and wickets continued to fall cheaply until the tide was seven wickets down for 30 runs. Then Ryburn came in and displaying complete contempt for the bowling knocked up a rapid 75, mostly

with boundary hits, five sixes and seven fours. Only four of his runs came from singles. The partnership took the score to 129, Foley contributing 17 and the innings, closed for the respectable total of 140. Opunake went in again and at time had reached 139 for eight wickets. Davis took the batting honours for this innings, compiling 45, after Hie style set by Ryburn. He hit three sixes' and four fours. Walker, who made 21, hit two sixes and one four.
