PLAY OUT TIME FOR HAWERA AND KAPONGA DRAW.
NORTHERN LEADERS HARD PRESSED BY WESTERN PARK. Taranaki cricket matches on Saturday provided some surprising performances both by teams and individual players. Patea was the only southern senior A team to secure a win, and had a margin of only six runs over Stratford. Edwards gave an outstanding bowling performance, taking nine Stratford wickets. Power Board and Manaia compiled big totals, but had to share the points with Hawera and Kaponga, the latter teams playing out time.
Senior B games in South Taranaki were more than usually interesting, two of the three hitherto unbeaten teams being defeated. In the northern division senior A matches, the leader, New Plymouth, is in danger of losing to Western Park, and Old Boys is doing well against High School.
