PROTESTS BEING RAISED BY PARLIAMENTARIANS

AMBASSADOR’S SALUTE TO THE KING CONSIDERED INDICATIVE OF NAZI ATTITUDE. HITLER EXCEEDINGLY ANGRY AT BRITISH ATTACK. A minor Sensation has been caused in diplomatic and political circles in England by the action of Herr von Ribbentrop, the German Ambassador in England in giving His Majesty King George VI the Nazi salute at a full Court of St. James. On Friday last all foreign Ambassadors attended Buckingham Palace to present their new letters of credenece to the King. When the name of the German Ambassador was called, Herr von Ribbentrop advanced towards the King, halted, clicked his heels and gave the full Nazi salute. The King bowed in formal acknowledgment. It is also reported by Lon- , don’s Conservative daily paper, the Morning Post, that as Harr von Ribbentrop saluted he rapped out the words “Heil Hitler.*’ Though this action was unexpected, the King showed no surprise.

This action, coming on the heels of suggestions made in England that Herr von Ribbentrop is responsible for propaganda against the British Foreign Secretary, Mr. R. A. Eden and had sought to influence the appointment of an Ambassador to Berlin, has caused considerable feeling. There have also been accusations of anti-British sentiment in Nazi broadcasts.
