UNUSUAL FIRE.

1 Telegraph Pole In Flames At Midhirst. The unusual sight of a telegraph pol© aflame at the top portion was seen on the Mountain Road, Midhirst, just before midnight latt night. Fully a dozen cars were parked at the scene and one of the motorists communicated with a Taranaki Electiic Power Board officer, who In turn notified the telegraph linesman. The flames were extinguished before any damage was done. It is thought that a spark from a railway locomotive caused the fire, and that the pole had been smouldering for some houre.
