ATHLETES FROM JAPA-N. Owing to being unable to arrange r suitable dale, the Taranaki Subcentre lias been obliged to decline an <ft r to stage a- meeting in connection with the forthcoming visit of Japanese athletes to New Zealand. INTER-PROVINCIAL TENNIS. Wanganui defeated Taranaki in the inter-provincial tennis match at Hawera on Saturday by 15 matches to nine matches. Apart from a strong north-west wind, which was occasionally troublesome, conditions w; re ideal and some good tennis was played. . MOUNTAIN HOUSE VISITORS. Fine weather attracted a large number of visitors to the Stratford mountain house at the week-end. Yesterday a trip to the summit was made by a party of 15 members of the Stratford Mountain Club and a party of three visitors. PICNIC AT KING EDWARD PAFiK. The .annual picnic of the Taranaki Athletic Sub-centre was held at King Edward Park yesterday. The small attendance was comprised almost solely of. members of the Stratford Club, and the afternoon was spent in playing cricket, field events and various competitions. RESERVED DECISION. In the case of D. H. Johnson v. A. Coleman, E. S. Rutherfurd and S. Macalister, the reserved decision of the Magistrate given gt Stratford on the 3rd instant, was in favour of the defendants (Mssrs Rutherfurd, Macalister and Coleman) on every item , of the plaintiff’s claim.
