UNION BANK CHAMBERS.

There is no way in which citizens can better demonstrate their faith in the future of their own Town or City than by erecting permanent and up-to-date business premises. That being so, it speaks volumes for the confidence and enterprise of the commercial community of Stratford that the schedule of new buildings recently completed, and of those about to be commenced, represents a very considerable sum of money.

The most recent addition to the completed list is the Union Bank Chambers, next to the Post Office in Broadway, and it is no exaggeration to say that it is certainly not the least attractive in appearance of the mny imposing buildings on Broadway. Perhaps the greatest advance of late years as regards the design of buildings where people have to work all day, is in the direction of insistence on good lighting; and when some of us call to mind the conditions under which workers “existed” formerly, the enormous importance of this point is appreciated. In fact, most of our younger folk are so well housed to-day during working hours that they are apt to overlook many of the advantages they enjoy. At the same time nobody would wish to see them obliged to return to the other conditions. Good luck to those who are helping to advance our Town—which means our District—and we wish them well in their enterprises.
