Senator McLachlan, PostmasterGeneral; who has returned from New Zealand, intends after consultation with the Rt. Hon. J. A. Lyons to place before the Federal Cabinet proposals aiming at the establishment of closer trade and general relations between Australia and New Zealand. Mr. McLachlan said that the sentiment of the people of New Zealand generally undoubtedly favours closer co-operation between their country and Australia.
