MUCH IMPRESSED.

Milk Industry Interesting In Sydney.

The milk industry, hospital administration and the third cricke-t Test between Australia and England were among the subjects which most impressed Mr I. J. Gold-stine, Mayor of One Tree Hill, during his six weeks’ holiday visit to Australia, whence he returned by the Wanga-' nella recently. Mr Goldstine, who is also a member of the Auckland Metropolitan .Milk Council, said that although it was primarily a holiday visit., he had looked into the milk industry in Sydney and Melbourne. He inspected large treatment plants' and conferred with the milk boards in both cities, discussing with them problems arising in the industry and in distribution methods'. He was struck by the remarkable resemblance of the problems- faced there to those- experienced in Auckland.

“Both the Sydney and Melbourne Milk Boards are satisfied that the only way of reducing the price of milk to the consumer to any extent is by general consolidation and zoning of rounds' for distribution,” said Mr Goldstine. “They agree that that is the effective way of reducing the cost of distribution and consequently the cost to the consumer.”
