STRATFORD RACING

Programme Arranged For March Meeting.

The programme for the one-day mlqetlmg of the Stratford Racing Club, to be held on March 20, ’has been approved by the Diidtrict Committee. The totaj amount

of shakes offering is £l2OO. As this will be the first meeting held since the Club obtained the additional permit, the committee has to commemorate one of Taranaki’s most prominent sportsmen by naming the chief hack race, the “A. W. Budge Memorial.” This race carries a stake of £lBO, including a trophy valued at £2O and will be run over a distance of nine furlongs. Other features' of the programme are the St. Patrick’s Handicap, of £220. 11 miles; the Flying Handicap, of £l7O, 6 furlongs; the Highweight of £145, 7 furlongs; Hurdles, of £125. 11 miles; Juvenile Handicap, of £125, 5 furlongs; Farewell Hack Handicap, of £l3O. 6 furlongs. A Trial Stakes of £lOO, over five |furlongs, will cater for maiden performers.

The programme is evenly balanced and should provide good racing.
