Fat and Forward Wethers Sold At Puniwhakau.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report that the Puniwhakau sale was held on. Wednesday the 27th instant, in conjunction with Messrs. Newton King, Ltd,, at Mr. H. Watchorn’s yards. The sale proved to be most successful. as the annual drafts came forward to advertised numbers, the offering comprising 1500 breeding ewes, wethers and lambs, which were sold under the hammer at top market values Io a large number of representative buyers from outside as well as local districts.
Spiecial interest was centred on t u e annual draft of T. Godkin’s Estate, consisting of 300 4 and 5year cast ewes, which were keenly split up between local buyers at 30/2. Three hundred 4 and 6tcoth fat and forward wethers realised the record price to date fo the Taranaki Province, after spirited bidding, the line selling at 27/1.
The offering of the other vendors, although in smaller lots, obtained full late market rates, as follows: On account O. Woods, 52 4-year ewes at 28/10; W. H. H. Young, 28 2, 4 and 6-tooth ewes at 35/6; H. Watchorn, 88 5-year ewes at 25/-; W. Lines, 30 f.m. ewes at 19/9; E. J. B rough, 64 f.m. ewes at 22/8; L. G. Bennett, 15 ewes at 14/7; W. Lines, 17 small ewe lambs at 18/7; H. Watchorn 45 small m.s. lambs at 16/6; 55 do. w. lambs at 14/5; C. Skittrop, 27 w. lambs at 18/4, wethers at 23/10. Aged Romney rams from 1 guinea to 21 guineas.
