Mr. Speaker Ending His Novel Holiday. Press Association—Copyright. Gisborne, Jan. 28. Nearly home are the cycling holi clay-makers, the Hon. W. E. Barnard. Speaker of the House of Representa tives, and his companion. Mr. S. J. Bennett, Palmerston North. They expect to reach Napier on Saturday. They have cycled from Auckland on the principle three days’ riding and one day’s rest. After leaving Auckland on Tuesday of last week tlvy v’iited Paeroa. Thames. Tauranga and Rotorua. On Saturday last they travelled from Rotorua to Whawatane, thence during the week-end to Opotiki, and on to Gisborne. They were greatly taken with the scenery in the Waioeka Valley on the run from Opotiki to Matawai. The cyclists experienced favourable weather all along the route, except, for one doubtful day, the second out from Auckland. The only trouble they experienced was a puncture when 15 miles out from Opotiki. Mr. Bernard said he had caught a slight cold a day or two ago. but otherwise they had both greatly benefit ted by the tour.
