HOUSING SCHEME.

Purchase Of Land Block In Auckland. One of the largest vacant blocks of land close to the city of Auckland, known as the Casey estate, has been purchased by the Government for the purpose of a housing sclieme. The Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, said to-day that the Department of Housing had acquired the estate at a reasonable cost. The purchase price would be about £17,000.
