January 29 and 30: Takapuna J.C. ■ at Ellerslie. Wanganui acceptances closed yes- . terday and Takapuna closes to-day. ; * * * Gay Broney showed signs of re- ! turning to form tlurimg th t e Christ- ■ mas racing and followed it up by ' running a good second to Miss Lu pt Thames. This horse may pay to follow from now on. * * * Surella was the “wheeze” for the second, day at Thames Uut could only run third. She was a well fancied favourite and is no doubt a fairly good one which might do better at the end of the week.
* -x- * The reason that Huntingmore has* nut done better than she should have ■ is because she is growing very quick- ; ly. This filly has tons of pace and j will show up later on when she fills out. ; * * * Rollicker seems to be nicely placed : in the Wynyard Plate at Takapuna J on Friday., This Hunting Song geld- j ingi ran a great race when he beat ■ Johnny Walls at Ellerslie on New | Year’s Day. * * * ■ Since being located at Hawera, ; Tout le Monde has been shaping i splendidly over the hurdles and may ■ be a prospect when first stepped out. ■ * -X- * ; Lifeguard should have a show at Wanganui. This horse cannot stay ! but being fast out of the barrier the ! turning course at Wanganui should : assist him materially. ** * > Round Up, which scored a couple
of wins at the Ellerslie Xmas carnival, is now out of hack class and will have to race against open company. He will not disgrace himself, however. * # * Hi'gh Glee was brought up from the South to win the last ra<>2 a£ Trent'ham. He failed by the narrowest of margins after being a shade unlucky in the early lt should pay to remember this. * * * The jumpers Black Marlin and Lord Vai have returned to the training list after a spell in the country. Both are getting on in years but they should still prove useful in the jumping season. * * * Custos which has been one of the biggest failures of the season has his supporters puzzled badly. He has been given every chance to show his worth and is now to be gelded and put aside until next spring. * vConvivial which raced at Trentham in the High weight is to come to Tic Taranaki circuit. Her nomination entry was miscarried for the C.J p. I and it was decided to race her up ; this way. * * * One of the most unlucky horses raced at Trentham was Spiral. This son of Limond is a ball of muscle at present and will make his presence felt at Wanganui. * * * It is not generally known that Tha Bigot which just got beaten at Wellington has only one eye. He is an improving galloper and will gi?t on the winning list agaiin shortly.
