HUGE CITY FIRE.

Two firemen were injured in fighting a fire which gutted six storeys of the wholesale, store of W. S. Friend and Company'in the City. The damage was estimated at £35,000. Over a hundred police were required to keep the thousands of. onlookers ou lf nf the danger zone. About 20 firemen risked their lives iij carrying out a smouldering chest which was filled with explosives.
