POWER FOR PEACE.

Britain Is now Stronger Than Ever. Great Britain is the only real power for peace, and she is arming on a very large scale, and is now stronger than ever. That is the impression of Mr C. G. McKellar, who returned to Christchurch last w£ek from a trip to England and America. “Europe is in a state of fear, and no one knows from week to week what is going to happen,” said Mr McKellar. “But Great Britain’s voice to-day is very different now compared yith twelve months ago, and it might be said that Britain is the only real power for world peace. She is arming on a very big scale, and 1 don’t think anyone knows the extent of the armaments she is accumulating; but 1 don’t think there is any doubt but that she is now stronger than ever, and will not be left' if the time for action comes.” The wage-earners of the country had made a wonderful sacrifice to enable her to recover. They had met the demand for lower costs, and consequently, there had been a building boom all aver the country. America operated in a different way, and had no building boom. The people of the Empire, Mr McKellar remarked, could thank God that there were men of sufficient character in England to be able to face the truth.
