PILES FOR BRIDGE.
Gums From Bird Road Sent Workmen engaged by the Pulblic Works Department were busily employed from an early hour this morn ing in transporting and loading on trucks in the Stratford railway yards a consignment of piles to be used in construction work on the Waitara bridge. The piles, which were selected from a plantation of gums on Mr. Percy Thomsons Bird road farm, are 40 feet in length and about two feet in girth at the base. In all 11 are being sent away. A short while ago a number of gums were taken from the same locality and railed to the Ohura district for use in connection with the construction of a tramway at the Tatu coalmine.
