PETRIE SHIELD.
Alterations Made In Competition Rules. I Minor alterations and clarification of rules tor the Petrie Shield competition were made by the committee at a meeting last night. Now. that teams are no longer weakened by the necessity of dividing the competition into two sections for different half-holidays, it was considered that a tightening up of the rules with regard to the fielding of senior players was necessary. A rule stating that no team shall include in any match more than one senior player, was accordingly decidi ed on. | A further rule that when more than ■ oue team is entered by a clulb, all I teams shall be chosen from available players strictly in accordance' with the club's ladder, was also adopted. The effect of this is that the A team must take the first four players on the ladder and the B team the next four. In the event of a player losing his place in the first four on the ladder ho is then eligible to play in i the B team. i The position with regard to deuce i games was also simplified. The game I ,now goes to the winner of the first ! point after the second deuce except i in the eleventh game, which is playI ed until one player wins the advan- | tage and the following point.
