HEALTH CAMP FUND. The amount raised in Stratford last year for the children’s health camp was £54/9/2. Less stamps were sold than for the previous year but donations were greater. FIRST TOWN HALL, The first town hall at Stratford was built in 1884 and was destroyed when the bush fire early in 1886 sw-pt the townshipj Another hall was erected by September of the same year. This, together with other important buildings, was burned in an extensive fire of the late ’9G’s. Early in 1902 the Borough Council decided to’ raise a loan to erect another hall, and this was opened in 1902. MOUTH ORGAN BAND. The suggestion that a mouthorgan band would be welcomed in Stratford has been taken up by Mr R. G. Marsh. He is endeavouring to muster players of mouth *orgai\s and stringed instruments such as guitars with that object in vie w. These bands have proved to be popular wherever formed in New Zealand and Australia. HOSPITAL RADIO FUND. Further donations to the Stratford Hospital radio fund are: —'Previously acknowledged, £256 19s lid; per A. J. Haseltine, Pukengahu (Pukengahn branch Farmers’ Union 10s. Pitt, Stratford, £1 Is; F. G. Catchpole, Whangamomona, ss; total. £260 Is lid. INJURY TO GIRL. While playing at her home yesterday Alice Smeath, daughter of Mr and Mrs R. Smeath, Ariel Street, received an,injury under unusual circumstances. Her small sister became frightened at the sight of a dog and rushed in at the gate on which her sister was swinging. The sudden jerk caused the pointed top of a paling to penetrate the girl’s body. Stitches had to be inserted but it was not. necessary for the girl to be confined to bed.
