TWO SIDES TO QUESTION.
Clarity Required On Legal Position Of Half-Holiday. (To the Editor.) Sir, —As a reader of your paper, it appears to me that the two sides on this holiday question are equally sincere in their efforts, both professing to act for the good of the town. Nevertheless we have two opposite assertions. One ot your correspondents says the holiday was decided by a poll. It that is so, then is not the change illegal? On the other hand, if, as your other correspondent says, the matter rests with the businessman, then what is all the argument about? Perhaps, Sir, the Borough Solicitor might see fit to give, in your paper, a review of the correct legal position and assist to clear this matter up.—l am, etc., IMPARTIAL. (Owing to the absence from town of the Borough Solicitor, we are unable to make any attempt to do as our correspondent suggests, but the matter will be discussed with-him on his return.—Editor.)
