Vines Turns the Tables In ’ Two Matches. press Association —Copyright. | Detroit, January 17. | H. E. Vines defeated F. J. Perry; 14—12, 6—2,. 6—l. Perry was extended from the start, | and was never able to make his j shots count after the American took the lead. Vines took full control with his ground strokes and fro quently manoeuvred Perry out of position for a fast placement. Vines and Barnes defeated Perry I and Lott in the doubles. 9 —7, 6> —4. j In a match at Pittsburg Vines I again defeated Perry 6—3, 5 —7, 6 —4, , 6—l. Except in the second set the American displayed decid’d superiority Vines took a 3 —2 lead in the first set when he broke through Perry’s service, and won the set. The ninth game was hard fought, going to deuce four times before. Perry’s •‘out” gave the American the victory. Vines is now one match ahead on all encounters with Perry.
