‘Father Wanted Money -I Stole’
POLICE TO INVESTIGATE 14-X BAH- | OLD GIRL’S ALLEGATION: I ■PAWNED A IBOCK’ A 14-year-old girl told the Lambeth I (England) Juvenile Court magistrate | recently that she stole because her , father demanded money from her. She was remanded for a week eharg- > ed with stealing a silk frock valued at \ £3 10s. and pawning it for 10s. The magistrate said that the police wonlri j make full inquiries into the child’s ■ allegation. The child’s mother said that she was separated from her husband, who had demanded money from her from time to time. ‘ ‘ My father came to me and demand ed money, ” the little girl said to the magistrate (Mr Marshall). “But I could not think of any way of getting it until I saw the frock in my aunt’s “I took it away, and gave the 10s. 1 obtained from a pawnbroker to my father.” She said that her father had demanded money from her on other occasions, and she had given him sums which she obtained from her mother.
