Books On The Shelves. “It Was Such Fun,” by Mrs Hwfa Williams (Hutchinson). —The writer’s husband was an intimate friend' of King Edward VII, and on marriage at the age of eighteen she was immediately plunged into the most brilliant society of her time. Therefore, in her book there are references to the chief men and women of the Edwardian period. “Love In Exile,” by Dorothy Black (Geoffrey Bles), —A love story, the action of which takes place in the Highlands of Scotland. • "Rough Going,” by George Goodchild (Ward, Lock and Co.).—Derise’s father is drowned and she is rescued by a man, as whose wife she poses for a time. "Ten Thirteen,” by Charman Edwards (Ward, Lock and Co.). — To a quiet West Country village comes Claude Weir, mystery man, after which peace is transferred into horror. "The Crowing Hen,” by Reginald Davis (Geoffrey Bles). —This story tells of a hen that crowed for murder, of the ceremony of “Telling it to the Bees,” of a Buff Orpington which changed its identity in the grave, and of a dead man speaking on the telephone. “The Fixer,” by Maurice B. Dix (Ward, Lock and Co.). —Inspector Lamont, bringing endence of a bank robbery in a taxi to Scotland Yard, falls out of the cab, dead, having been stabbed. The resultant inquiries bring out material for a breathless story. Also added; A Pageant of Victory, by Jeffery Farnol (Sampson Low.)
