Mrs Uniacke returned from a Visit to Wellington, where she attended the Dramatic Summer School, held at the University. • * * * Dr. and Mrs Hogg, Wellington, have been the guests of Mrs Glasgow, Huinga. They returned to Wellington on Monday, Mrs. Glasgow accompanying them. The following Stratford candidates passed the State examination held in December for maternity nurses (names not in order of merit): Nurses I. E. Brunton, M. A. Keetley, E. F. Park, G. A. Sandford • • • Miss Marion Pitt entertained some friends at tennis on Wednesday afternoon. Those present were: The Misses J. Smith (Dannevirke), M. Malone, M. Porritt, L. Penn, M Lyons, O. and B. Masters, A. Jardine, N. Thorpe. * * * “Lilac Time” in New Plymouth attracted quite a few people last night. Amongst them were: Mesdames J. Fredric, S. Pitt, J. B. Richards, Robertson, McDowall, Steven, Wool, Mark, H. Graham, Townsend, N. Douglas, the Misses M. Pitt, C. and M. Lennon, P. Dwyer, J. Smith, E Shehan, and others. • ♦ • Mrs. D. R. McLean, Hamlet Street, gave a very enjoyable bridge party last night for Mrs. Armstrong. The/ drawing-room was tastefully rated with pink sweet peas and roses. The hostess was wearning a brown floral georgette. The guest of honour wore silk floral ninon. Those playing were Mesdames Armstrong, Newell, Marchant (Cardiff), North, Hislopp, the Misses M. Porritt and Squire.
