ULTIMATE AIM OF GERMANY
GERMAN INTENTIONS HELPING FRANCO Report Of Adviser To Hitler Revealed. Press Association—Copyright. Received I I a.m.) LONDON, January 13. The Paris correspondent of the News-Chronicle says: “I am able to reveal the chief points in the report to Hew Hitler from General Faupel, German Charge d’Affaires at Burgos. Faupel criticises the jealousies and intrigues in Franco’s headquarters and the lack of organisation. He considers the bulk of public opinis hostile to the rebels.
“In view of this, a minimum of 80,000 Germans is necessary to ensure victory. He suggests that the despatch of these troops should be subject to a condition that the direction of military operations be placed in the hands of the GermanItalian General Staff. Faupel also suggests that German troops be maintained in Spain after Franco’s victory.”
