Auckland, Last Night. effort will be spared to improve railway crossings and give the public the best security possible,” said the Minister of Railways, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, after the inspection of three level crossings in the Mount Albert district to-day. The Minister added that the problem of protecting the public was troubling railway authorities throughout the world. The Minister said endless suggesttions for the improvement or elimination of level crossings had been received from the public. In the main, however, the safety devices in use in New Zealand were those which had proved to be the most effective in various parts of the world.
