LEGAL OFFICES RE-OPENED. Legal offices in Stratford re-opened this morning after the hristmas vacation. MUCH RAIN. Unless the long-awaited period of settled weather intervents the rainfall lor January is likely to be a record one. Up till 9 o'clock this morning 3.64 inches have been recorded since the beginning of the month. NEW ZEALAND BOWLING. Exptriencing its first defeat in the sixth round of the rinks competition of the New Zealand bowling championships at Wellington, the link skipped by Dickinson (Avon) I has five wins in the section play and I to-day meets the rink skipped by i Maxwell Walker (Auckland) one of the Dominion’s foremost bowlers. The rink skipped by Skoglund (Stratford) also has five wins out of six matches played. Two mor e rounds are to be played and only the rinks of Mitchell (Whitlora) and Perry (Thorndon) are undefeated. CHARGE OF BIGAMY. Charged with bigamy b'fore Messrs R. W. D. Robertson and J. A. Valentine, justices of the peace, at yesterday's sitting of the New Plymouth Police Court. William Joseph Fox was remanded until January 25. Fox was charged that, having married Maud Elizabeth Marsh at Leeston on August 17, 1927, he went through a form of marriage on July 3, 1929, with another woman at New Plymouth, thereby committing bigamy.
