BETTS SECURES 100. Stratford Teams Default In Two Grades. Defeating Kaponga on Saturday, Hawera Old 'Boys increased its lead in the senior A division of the South Taranaki cricket competition. The brilliant and chanceless 103 (retired) of S. Betts (Power Board) was the highlight of the day’s play and enabled his side easily to defeat Patea. Another fine performance was that ot H. Barker (Old Boys) who took six Kaponga wickets for 26 runs and made 62 with the bat. Stratford A team had the bye and remain fourth on the ladder. In the southern Senior B. section Stratford Technical High School were drawn to meet Hawera B at the school ground, but did not appear on the ground, The Hawera team accordingly returned home after 2 p.m. and played a practice match against Hawera A, which also won by default with the nonappearance of Stratford B.
